Grads, Grads, Grads......

Well, had two major graduations this past weekend; Cali graduated from HIS Kids preschool and Miss Katelynn Nicole Dunn (insert the principle's voice here) graduated from Prairie Central High School. Cali is very excited to go to Kindergarten next year, and Katelynn is excited to take the next step into the adult world (really, I think she is just excited to move out and not have a curfew :)

Graduations went as follows:

*Cali's Graduation:
Well, her graduation was at 7:00 on Wednesday evening. There were (literally) tornado whistles going off while we were on the drive over to Chenoa. We went to my dad's parents first to check out the weather (and to see if we needed to go to the basement). If you don't know already, I'm not fond of storms; when you put storm in the picture with a vehicle and two kids on the road, I REALLY hate storms. I called over to the church to see if graduation was still on and they assured me that "the church was packed and it was still a go". We waited around for a bit more and my sister called the church again, this time to see if they had a basement. Her conversation went as follows:

Katie: "Hi, I was just wondering if graduation was still on?"
Person at church: "yes"
Katie: "Yes, well....can you tell me, do you guys have a basement there?"
Person at church: "No, but there are a lot of people here. It's safe"

(hang up)

Katie: (repeats what he just told her). "Yeah, I'm sure it's safe. As the stained glass windows fall down on us and slit my face to shreds" :)

So we get there and no sooner do we walk in and see that they have all the kids in the bathroom (with mattresses lined up around them).

Oh, I forgot to mention that as we were running from the house to the truck to get to the church that water got on my blackberry and totally fried it. I was less than impressed.

But you know what, we got there. In time. With smiles on our face. And a tornado didn't even blow us (or the stained glass windows) down.

*Katelynn's graduation
Miss Katelynn is a high school graduate!! She looked fabulous. Oh, yeah, and the ceremony was nice too :) She is a grown up now and ready to face the real world. We went out to dinner after graduation and I got to sit at the "kids" table (although, Katelynn, Mariah, and Drew aren't really kids anymore :)

I had such a nice chat with them. We talked about Katelynn huge "melons"?? How she should NEVER drink and drive. How she should never get into a vehicle with someone who has been drinking, etc.

She informed me that she was going to attend a senior class party that evening. Katelynn and Mariah's convo went as follows:

Me: "Katelynn, are you going to any parties tonight"
Katelynn: "Not really, just hanging out with some friends. I may go out to the senior class party though"
Me: "Will there be alcohol there?"
Katelynn: "Yes, but I won't drink"
Mariah: "You're so stupid. You're only 18. You can't drink"

Oh, how naive our youngsters are these days :)

Overall, both graduations were a huge success!! Can't wait to see what next year brings for BOTH of my girls :)

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that Jordan was in charge, of ALL 3 kids, during the ceremony. Everyone survived and Delia started calling him "daddy", so I'd call it a success :)
